3 Simple Ways To Market Your Business

Marketing can be overwhelming. Between creating content, running campaigns, managing ads, and the seemingly endless acronyms, it's easy to get overwhelmed. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Yes, marketing can become very sophisticated and can grow to the point where a large number of people are required to maintain it. You can dive deeply into every aspect of the way people interact with your business and how they become customers, but do you really need to?

Maybe. But maybe you can also keep it relatively simple. At the end of the day, the goal of marketing is to make sure your product or service is top of mind when a potential customer is ready to make a purchase. It's up to you to determine how you achieve that, but the end goal is relatively simple.

Most small businesses could do more to bolster their marketing efforts. You can always do more to improve. But marketing is likely just one of the many things you are doing every day to grow your business. So rather than get bogged down in the complexities, here are a few simple things you can do to help potential customers find you:

1. Social Media

I can already hear you saying that you either don’t have time for social media or you don’t like it or whatever. That’s fine, but the truth is that social media is a great way to help people find your business and to create a community of people who are fans of what you do. You don’t need to be the master of every platform the internet has to offer, just find what works for you and start working.

The key here is to be consistent. We’ve all heard the story of viral posts or pages that gain huge amounts of traction in a short amount of time. Those stories are the exception, not the rule. Just start creating content on a schedule that you can maintain, and the gains will reveal themselves over time.

Oh, and did I mention social media is free?

2. Website

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20 years, your business needs a website. We won’t dive into Search Engine Optimization or the importance of ranking on Google in this post, but simply having a website that is easy to use can help people find you when they are looking for a product or service.

Roughly 70% of people do research online before purchasing a product or service, and a percentage of them have already decided on which product or service they are going to buy before they ever make contact with a business. If you’re not online, you will miss those opportunities plain and simple.

3.Video

Similar to social media, video can be a great tool to help educate potential customers. Video can be more time-consuming and expensive, but there is plenty of data out there that show that people love video. Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, and countless others are prioritizing video content because that is the form of media people want to see.

Video has the added benefit of allowing people to get to know you a little bit before they approach you for a one-on-one interaction.

Bonus Tip-Community Involvement

This may not be a feasible option for all businesses, but community interaction can do untold wonders for your business. Being involved creates a sense of belonging and purpose, and giving back to the community allows people to get to know you, understand what you do, and see the value that you are trying to bring on a personal level.
